Ready to Get Started With Your New Pool Installation? Here's What You Can Expect!

Building a fiberglass pool can be a fun and exciting event if you plan ahead of time for what will happen. Numerous steps are involved in constructing a beautiful, professionally installed pool.

Step One: Choosing Your Pool

The first step to creating your backyard oasis is scheduling your FREE consultation with our dedicated team. We will show you the many options for your pool and help you decide which will be best for the space in your backyard. Want to have an idea before we meet? Check out our list of pools here!

CHOOSE YOUR POOL!

Step Two: Preparing Your Yard

Once permits and utilities have been obtained, the site is prepared by first establishing the finish grade of the pool wall. The excavation area is discussed with the homeowner before applying for a building permit by outlining the pool dimensions with spray paint or using a pre-fabricated template that matches the pool design. Don't worry! The Platinum Pools & Design team will help you with permitting your project. Depending on the equipment, this should take no more than a couple of hours. Excavation can begin once the elevation is determined and the layout is marked.

Step Three: Excavation!

Once all permits are obtained and the site is mapped out for your chosen pool, the utilities that come with it, and your backyard design, our team begins excavating! The hole will be dug 12 to 24" beyond the dimensions of the pool to leave room for base materials for proper grading and foundation. Once all base materials are properly laid, your pool will be placed in the desired location.

Step Four: Filling Your Pool!

Adding water and backfilling begins once the pool has been leveled. The process of filling the gap between the fiberglass pool shell and the excavated hole (also known as "locking in" the pool) is known as backfilling. This is also the stage where water is added to the pool and a drain pipe that aids in proper water circulation. When the backfill and water reach areas for plumbing fittings, the builder will connect the fittings with PVC pipe and pressure test the lines for leaks. This is also the time when the lights and other possible water features will be installed.

Step Five: Installing all Plumbing & Electrical

A plumbing system is required for your fiberglass pool to remain fresh and clean. This system comprises two major components: a pool filter that removes small debris and a pool pump that circulates water through the filtration system. Keep in mind that even with filters, you will need to skim your pool with a net regularly to remove larger debris items. On the project site, an equipment pad will be strategically placed to hold the pump, filter, heater, electrical connections, and other options that may be included in the installation.

Step Six: Pouring Concrete & Finishing Your Pool!

After your pool is properly installed and all plumbing and electrical are set up, our team will begin the finishing process for your pool installation. This includes pouring the surrounding concrete and installing any decorative additions discussed in the overall design of your backyard oasis. Now that your pool is fully installed! It's time for you and your family to enjoy!
